EventIDE installation requires installing the extended version of DirectX 9.0. We plan to remove this dependency by switching to another DirectX engine, that has also a support for newer DirectX 11. Still, DirectX 9 will remain a main graphics engine because DirectX 11 is not available on Windows XP.

A new graphical user interface is now available in EventIDE. The Ribbon panel (alike Microsoft Office GUI) replaced the old menu in the main window. The Ribbon panel allows to access to all commands in the application in two mouse click, has a modern look and incorporates a number interactive galleries and editors.
To learn more about the new Ribbon panel and other changes, check new screenshots and details of the latest update.

Currently, a logic of the event flow in EventIDE is based on conditions attached to events. This is a historical feature of the original program's architecture. Event conditions allows easy management on layers which contains dense links structures with a small number of events. However, the practice proves a real disadvantage of this approach- the conditions get overcomplicated when multiple links converge to a single event.
Accordingly, the conditions snippets (including the default time conditions) are planned to be moved to the links them self. It's a final step in core design, which is planned to be completed in September 2012.

In the visual editor for event add a function that composes the current edting event surface with all parent surfaces, like it happens in the runtime.
